Hässleholm is a creative meeting place in the middle of the Öresund region with bold initiatives in art, culture and nature. The inspiring architecture in Hässleholm Kulturhus is a fine venue for music, theatre and exhibitions from every possible genre.

"Trädhuset" (the Tree House), on the hills by the Finjasjön lake south of the town, is the largest tree house for all-year-round use in the Nordic region. Since 2006, it has been used as a unique conference centre, up among the treetops. From here, there is a magnificent view over the lake and Hovdala Nature Area. In summer, the Tree House café is a popular place to enjoy a cup a coffee.

In contrast to the modern architecture of the Tree House, in the middle of the area you will find one of Sweden's gems of cultural heritage: Hovdala Castle with its monuments from the Snapphane feuds of the 1600s.

The forests and recreational areas offer fantastic hiking in magnificent and varied countryside in all seasons. If you prefer to get close to nature through other outdoor activites, why not try fishing cycling, canoeing golf or riding?

In summer, you can cool down with a dip in a tranquil lake. Go for a ride on a lively Icelandic horse along winding forest roads. Ride a mountain bike in the forest on proper cycling trails. Enjoy outdoor living in a wind shelter, catch a fish and then cook it over an open fire - a great way to spend a warm summer evening.

Hovdala Castle played an important role during the 1600s, located as it was in the borderland between Sweden and Denmark. During the summer, guided tours, exhibitions, concerts and many other events are held here. The park and garden are open all year round so it is possible to explore this historical site at any time of year. You can also go on a treasure hunt with a fun smartphone app.

Children will especially enjoy the exciting story-telling among the pillared halls and bats in Tykarpsgrottan, and the fun and adventure of the national jousting tournament (Rikstornerspelen) in May. They will also love a visit to the Alpaca & Moose Ecofarm. Here you can get really close to the Swedish moose and the other animals on the farm. Or why not go on a trekking tour with an alpaca? Children who normally do not like walking seem to forget about time when walking with these calm animals.

Are you interested in golf or gardens? Design or art? Or history? There's something for everyone here!
